Runway Looks: Hair Halfway

Whether you refer to it as hair half up or hair half down, we love that this look is making a come back for winter.  So feminine, we love the look whether worn voluminous or wavy to sleek and shiny. So, without further ado, we present to you here, our favorite versions of the trend.

LOOSE AND BRAIDED – Nanette Lepore

Blowdry you hair in a relaxed fashion with a hairdryer like the CHI Ionic Low EMF Professional Hair Dryer Designer Chameleon.  Next, Make a deep side part and start a French braid on either side at the hairline. While they shouldn’t be too tightly laced, make sure to keep the braids close to your head so they won’t droop, and when you get to the middle of the back of your head, tie them off with a clear elastic. The bottom half of your hair can be styled however you want, as long as the overall feeling is soft and flow-y.

SCHOOLGIRL COOL – Derek Lam

Orlando Pita used only hair spray and a blow-dryer to create this look, but it’s probably easier (and quicker) to use a barrette. Blow-dry your hair first, then go over it with a flatiron, such as the CHI Ergonomic Auto Digital Ceramic Flat Iron w/ CHI Bag,  to make it pin-straight. Using the end of a rattail comb, section off a piece from temple to temple, starting at your hairline. Mist the section with a lightweight hair spray and secure with a neutral-colored barrette right at the top of your head.

TOP KNOTTED – 3.1 Philip Lim

Smooth the top half of your hair back and wrap it with an elastic, pulling it halfway through to create a loop right in the center of the back of your head. Leave the bottom half down in rippling, “princess-like” waves which you create with a three-pronged iron, such as the CHI Auto Digital Ceramic Waver —an iron that looks like a long, stretched-out fork that you weave your hair around for thin curls.
