Quick Beauty Tip – Prevent Lipstick On Your Teeth!

quicktip-makeup-on-teeth Have you ever chatted someone up and realized hours later that you had bright red lipstick all over your teeth? That is mega embarrassing and screams “hot mess”. Next time applying, or reapplying lipstick stick your finger in your mouth and pull it right out. This will swipe the excess lipstick from under your lips and prevent lipstick teeth. Remember this!

Quick Beauty Tip – How To Avoid Bubbly Manicures

quicktip-prevent-polish-bubblesToday’s quick beauty tip is more like 5 in 1! Follow these steps to avoid dreaded bubbles in your manicure forever! 1. Swipe your nails clean with nail polish remover even if your nails aren’t painted. This will give you a clean canvas to work with. 2. If you moisturize, be sure to wipe the nails down before painting. This is great for your skin, but can leave residue that leads to bubbles on your nail. 3. Stop shaking the bottle before use. If you feel the need, take the bottle between the palms of your hands and swipe them back and forth. 4 & 5. Keep your coats thin and resist the urge to put nails in front of a fan or dryer. You want to ensure that the each layer of polish dries at the same time. If the top layer dries before the first, you may create bubbles.

Enjoy your perfect mani!

Quick Beauty Tip – Say No To Raccoon Eyes!

quicktip-avoid-racoon-eyesYou may leave the house looking like a goddess, but give it a few hours in front of a computer screen or on the dance floor and you start to resemble rocky the raccoon. The simplest way to avoid becoming this furry little friend is to prime! Use a primer on your bottom lids. Typically, we prime our top lid before applying eye makeup, but a little bottom lid love will help keep your liner where it belongs.

Fall Makeup Trends

  • The virtual opposite of the orange-y eye look is this purplish, brown style. Combine eyeshadows to create a perfect shadow on your lid to pull this one off. This will go with any fall outfit and can be dressed up or down.

Get Her Look – Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland plays the cute little airhead on Modern Family. The reason we’re so intrigued by her look is because she is in her 20’s and plays a teenager. Plus, she looks younger than her character even is! She must be doing something right. Here is how to shave years off of your age with makeup:

1. Exfoliate. We have said this a million times before and we will say it again. Exfoliate to give your skin a fresh, polished look. 2. Tone. Add a toner to remove any remaining impurities. This will ensure your skin appears smooth and flawless. 3 Moisturize. Add moisture back into your skin. You will want this as a base before adding makeup. This will also give your skin the underlying glow that it needs to appear years younger.

4. Foundation. Use a tinted, moisturizing foundation as your base. This will start to give you some color while adding even more moisture. 5. Conceal. Use a brightening concealer under your eyes and to cover any dark spots or hyperpigmentation.  GTL-Sarah-Hyland-bottom 6. Eyeshadow. Use neutral tones for a younger look. The more natural you keep your colors the less heavy and aged your makeup will appear.

7. Blush. Finish off your look with a pretty pink blush. Keep it super light to give your self a dewy, flush look. Darker blush can make your cheekbones look accentuated giving you an older appearance. 8. Eyeliner. Use eyeliner for your top lid only. Keep it off the bottom to keep your skin clearer. 9. Lipstick. Finish your look with almost nude lips. Be sure to  use a lipstick with natural oils so your lips stay moisturized.

Quick Beauty Tip – Avoid Build Up In Your Laugh Lines

It is certainly one of the happiest types of wrinkles you can have, but laugh lines are not as pleasant looking as they sound. The tiny creases that we get as we age from smiling and laughing around our mouths also tend to collect our foundation and bronzer making themselves even more apparent. In order to combat this buildup, apply foundation and bronzer, then puff out your cheeks and swipe the areas with a cotton swab. This will take out any excess makeup and allow you to live, love and LAUGH!

Quick Beauty Tip – Prevent A Sun Damaged Scalp

quicktip-avoid-sunburn-scalp Floppy Hats & Beachy Ponytails are stylish and adorable looks for the beach, but they actually serve a very important purpose in addition to their cute look. Wear a slick back ponytail to eliminate the risk of getting a sun burn on your part, or opt for a floppy hat or even baseball cap to cover your scalp all together. There are even some hair care brands that offer scalp protectant spray with SPF, but these are quick, easy fixes!

Tutorial Tuesday – At Home Face Scrub

TT-at-home-facescrub This may not look too appetizing, but hey, it isn’t meant to be eaten! Pour Splenda into a bowl – we don’t recommend eating Splenda, but it is softer than sugar and will be more gentle for your face’s tender skin. Use a strawberry to apply the sweetener to your face and scrub in a circular motion. Rinse and then apply yogurt in a thin layer like a mask to clean skin. Let it sit for 20 minutes. It will harden during this time. Rinse again with warm water and you will be perfectly exfoliated!
