Mistakes happen when you’re rushing a work of art. The work of art in this scenario is you, the mistake is shattered makeup.
It becomes a tragedy whenever it is new makeup or your favorite one.
In the past, we have been guilty of throwing out broken compacts, eye shadows and blushes but now, we can save them, enjoy them and get our money’s worth!
You will need:
- Alcohol –70% alcohol will work best for this tutorial but you can use rubbing alcohol as well
- Makeup brush – eyeliner brush or an eyebrow brush works great
- Plastic wrap
- Broken Makeup
Note: Steps 1 and 2 are optional but they have proven to have great results in terms of reshaping your makeup and making sure it looks uniform.
STEP 1: Wrap the broken makeup with the plastic wrap.
STEP 2: Use the spatula to break the makeup into smaller pieces as if you were turning it into a mineral powder.
STEP 3: Use the dropper to add alcohol. Don’t add too much or the makeup will take longer to dry. For bigger containers you will be using more than 8 full droppers.
STEP 4: Use the spatula to smooth over the wet makeup. This will bond the makeup together. It should be able to be reshaped. If you are having trouble, you may need to add more alcohol. (If you skipped steps 1 and 2, this step may be a little messier.)
STEP 5: Use the makeup brush to smooth the edges and clean it up.
STEP 6: Wait a few hours for it to dry and it’s as good as new.
There are concerns that alcohol may irritate your skin. The alcohol actually evaporates and should not change the composition of your makeup.
