Everything You Need to Combat Winter Beauty Woes

Winter has a nasty habit of wreaking havoc on the skin and the hair. Harsh, dry air, combined with low levels of humidity creates the perfect storm. Suddenly your hair is static, your skin feels like sandpaper, and your hands are coarse. Don’t let the season get away with it! Here are five essential products from TheBeautyPlace.com that are destined to improve how you feel from head to toe.

Dry strands require extreme moisture. Give your hair the TLC it deserves with TIGI Bed Head Urban Anti+dotes Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner ($28.99). The products are formulated with hyper-hydrating ingredients that infuse locks with deep hydration. After just one wash, you’ll notice a difference. For hair that feels coarse and looks lackluster, supplement your regimen with TIGI Bed Head Urban Anti+dotes Recovery Treatment Mask ($14.89) at least once a week. It’s ideal for repairing damage, and all products are safe to use on color-treated hair.

It’s not uncommon for skin to become flaky and irritated during winter. Combat this by overhauling your skincare lineup for the season. PCA Skin Dry Skin Relief Bar ($22.99) is a good starting point: it’s a mild cleanser that works best when it’s left on the skin for a couple of minutes. During this time, it sloughs off those unsightly flakes, softens dry spots, and leaves behind a smooth finish. Unlike other cleansers, it won’t strip your skin.

You probably have already noticed that your lightweight lotion isn’t quite doing the trick for your face during winter. Switch to a thicker emollient, like Avene Hydrance Optimale Rich Hydrating Cream ($25.99). Mild and gentle, it’s infused with shea butter and is suitable to use on even the most sensitive skin types. For best results, apply when skin is slightly damp to lock in moisture.

Ordinary hand creams just won’t do during winter, either. The best choice is a formula that contains ultra-moisturizing ingredients. Bliss High Intensity Hand Cream ($12.99) fits the bill with its rich consistency and deeply hydrating oils of macadamia and grapeseed. It sinks in quickly, so skin doesn’t feel tacky or greasy, and its effects linger even after you wash your hands.

Winter can also increase your skin’s sensitivity. Look for unscented moisturizers loaded with nourishing ingredients, such as John Masters Organics Bare Unscented Body Lotion ($14.99). With sea kelp, coconut oil, milk thistle, and white tea extract, it’s as much a treatment for parched skin as it is a basic hydrator. It absorbs quickly, and can even be used on the face in a pinch thanks to its non-greasy finish.

We are also having a winter beauty recovery sale, just is time to get everything you need to combat your beauty woes. Sale ends on 2/3/2017 11:59 PM EST.

The Do’s & Don’ts Of Self Tanning

Get ready to glow! With the winter season here, we’re not as exposed to the sun as we wish and our tan lines are most likely to be invisible. But don’t worry, there’s still hope that we can have our summer sun kissed skin even when the temperatures are going down. Do we even have to mention that tanning beds and lying out, with out sunscreen are not viable options? By now, you should know to practice safe sun and the only safe way to get a tan is to fake it. Faking it is far easier than you think, and rather inexpensive. However, there are some things to keep in my mind that you should and you shouldn’t do when doing self-tanning:

Do’s:

  1. Exfoliate your skin before: in order to get better results with self-tanning, your skin needs to be on great conditions. One way to prepare your skin is to exfoliate it at least 8 hours before. The Avene Akerat  ($25.99) is a smoothing, exfoliating cream for body. Ideal for dry to very dry skin types, it minimizes rough and hardened skin and improves the skin’s ability to retain moisture.
  1. Use an applicator: knowing how to get the perfect tan can take some time. If you’re pulling and rubbing at the skin when applying your self-tan you are likely causing streaks. That’s why we recommend a tan applicator, a mitt or a self-tanning product for beginners such as Tantowel Endless Tan Classic Kit ($16.99) This is a combination of the TanTowel Classic self-tanning towelettes and the clear liquid Tanning Mist. You won’t believe how easy is to apply it and get the tan everyone is dying to have!
  1. Moisturize to maintain your sexy tan longer! It is recommended to apply a good body lotion at least once a day. Not only to maintain a beautiful tan, but also to hydrate your skin. John Masters Organics Bare Unscented Body Lotion ($14.99) is ideal for all skin types and perfect to use every day.

Don’ts:

1.Don’t use anything with oil before self-tanning — no moisturizing products. It will get in the way of your tan. Self-tan needs to get right down to your skin without something blocking it.

2.Don’t layer It on! Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product. Depending on how you apply. What we recommend is two decent coats or a few light layers is always sufficient. One of our favorite ones are Bliss FatGirlSlim Hide and Glow Sleek – Fair to Medium ($33.99) this tinted body firming spray contains Amazonian maracuja oil and caffeine to firm and reduce puffiness. It gives you that luminous glow and you won’t have to apply hundred on layers to get the tan you want.

3. Don’t shave immediately before applying. Shaving exfoliates the skin, leaving it supple and ready for bronzing, so it should be done before self-tanner is applied, just not right before since shaving can     open pores and create cuts. Prevent irritations and take your precautions.

Don’t forget to take into consideration these previous advices and achieve your desired golden glow without the dangerous effects of the sun!

The Must Have Products In Every Gym Bag

It’s a bit of a challenge to haul yourself to the gym before sunrise, but more often than not you get it done. What you do post-workout, though, is just as important as actually getting to the gym and completing your hardcore regimen. That’s because all that exercise has a tendency to do a number on your hair and skin. You don’t necessarily have to shower at the gym, but you should pack your gym bag with a few of these very essential items to take your workout game to the next level.

No matter your hair type, you’ll probably have some sweat lingering on your scalp after your workout. Macadamia Professional Style Extend Dry Shampoo ($23.99) is a game-changer in the ever-burgeoning world of dry shampoos: it smells amazing, plumps hair up at the roots to provide some much-needed volume, and resists the usual powdery mess that is so typical of most of its counterparts. It contains hydrating argan and macadamia oils, both of which nourish your strands without weighing it down.

Those nightmare stories about breakouts that develop after a workout are no joke. Nip the problem in the bud by cleansing your skin with a powerful product, like Murad Clarifying Wipes ($15.99). They’re formulated to combat blemishes, remove dirt, sweat, and debris, and limit your skin’s excessive oil production. Swipe it over your face and neck after a workout to achieve an instantly fresh complexion.a274d5b420c9639472cd7a27e88fd0f0

To wear before, during, and after: Bliss Fabulips Glossy Balm ($11.99) absolutely nails it with an impressive formula that keeps lips continuously hydrated. It’s made with a hyper-moisturizing blend of shea butter and vitamin E, both of which deliver the goods on contact to leave your lips soft. There’s even a hint of mint to leave your breath smelling fresh. Dry air in the gym can really do a number on your lips in no time, so it’s a good idea to keep something like this on hand.

You don’t need to apply a full face of makeup after that fabulous workout session. Chances are you’re already sporting some pretty rosy cheeks, but if you want to boost your complexion while you’re running an after-gym errand, apply some Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain ($16.99) onto your cheekbones and call it a day. This is all you need to achieve that natural glow that mimics your skin’s innate beauty, and the twist-and-go formula is perfect for on-the-go touch ups.

Who actually wants to stow all of this stuff in an oversized gym bag and rummage around for it? What you need is a cute case to tote it in style, like this TIGI Cosmetics Bag ($1.99). An unbelievable deal, it’s sized just right for all of your essentials, and you can stick a few extras in there, too—think travel deodorant, hair ties, and a comb. P.S. Starting this week if you spend over $175 on SkinMedica Products you can receive a gift bag with four travel size SkinMedica products valued at over $105, that would be great additions to your gym bag.
