Blake Lively's Chic Sidebraid Is A Hot Look For This Holiday Season

We don’t know about you but we LOVE Blake Lively’s effortlessly chic messy sidebraid hairstyle. We are so enamored with the look, in fact, that we sought out our resident Beauty Place stylist and asked her “How do we get the look?!” Here, her advice on how to achieve the of-the-moment hairstyle yourself.

1. You want to build up texture by prepping hair with a texturizing spray, such as CHI Infra Dual Texture Hairspray.

2. Then you want to create extra body and bounce by drying your hair with a diffuser. We like the CHI Rocket Professional Hairdryer.

3. Use your fingers to rake your hair to one side and create two ponytails by fastening both the top and the bottom with elastic bands.

4. Pull out the top section and create a fishtail braid.

5. Next, add a festive clip to the base of the ponytail. (Lively wore a vintage Chanel brooch here.)

And voila! You are rocking one of the best hairstyles of the season.

Here in The Beauty Place office, we are obsessed with Taylor Swift’s fantastic side-braid hairstyle. We think it’s adorable, girly and what’s more, according to our resident stylists, it isn’t all that difficult to replicate! So we sat them down and got them to give us the lowdown on our favorite hairstyle of the moment.

Here’s their 10-step guide to pulling off the look.

Step 1:Run Agadir Argan Oil Styling Mousse through your hair to both smooth and add styling hold to your hair.

Step 2: Spray your paddle hairbrush, such as the Bio Ionic Hybird Bristle Paddle Brush, with hairspray to control fly-aways and brush your hair to one side.

Step 3: Divide the unfastened ponytail in two (make sure each half is approximately equal).

Step 4: Twist the back section (the one closest to your neck) a single twist to help keep in any shorter layers that might wiggle free.

Step 5: Take a lock of hair at the longest point of the back section and pull it underneath the front section, wrapping it around to create a full loop.

Step 6: Now pull that same lock under the back section and loop it around the same way you did on the other side.

Step 7: Repeat this winding one more time each on both sides.

Step 8: Pin the hair ends of the winding lock underneath to hold it in place and make sure it is held tight.

Step 9: Pin any other little pieces that have fallen out in to keep everything neat and clean.

Step 10: Spray with plenty of hairspray to keep it all in place.

And voila! You look like a star.
