How to Look Younger

A lot of people think that the key to looking younger is to get rid of wrinkles but there are a lot of other features that age you. Concealing or getting rid of wrinkles on your face can only do so much. Women who do actually master the art of maintaining a youthful look don’t just have great complexions; they also have whiter smiles, thick hair and a young scent. Following are all the different things to pay attention to in your efforts to appear ageless.

More than wrinkles: Aside from the wrinkles and fine lines on your face, skin tone and radiance make a difference in your seeming age. Some of today’s anti-aging products, such as Bremenn 6 in 1 Face Cream ($48), contain adenosine, a collagen-stimulating molecule that already naturally exists in the skin’s DNA.

Keep hair thick: As you age, your hair thins. Use volumizing shampoos as well as the quickest, most effective solution: volumizing spray mousse like Big Sexy Root Pump Plus Volumizing Spray Mousse ($15.99). For the best results, spray it on the underside of your hair, near the roots.

Conceal chest spots: After time, the sun causes age spots to form on the chest, making you look older. To prevent chest blemishes from forming, wear sunscreen on your chest and switch to a body lotion that has discoloration-reducing ingredients such as the Murad Age Spot & Pigment Lightening Gel ($54.49).

Reduce redness: Another result of sun damage, which ages you, is redness and apparent blood vessels on the cheeks and nose. You can effectively get rid of the red with laser treatments, though they tend to be pricey. A more affordable alternative is to use a yellow-based concealer. Dot the concealer over the red areas and then tap it into the skin with your ring finger until it vanishes. Go over it with a tinted moisturizer like the Murad Correcting Moisturizer ($24.99) or a foundation like Peter Thomas Roth UnWrinkle Foundation ($35.99) that matches your skin tone.

Bright pearly whites: Because stains accumulate on your teeth over the years, whiter teeth make you look younger. If you are using an at-home teeth-whitening system, make sure you don’t go overboard and make your teeth look fake. Your teeth should never be whiter than the whites of your eyes.

Rejuvenated hands: Keep hands looking fresh and hydrated so that fine lines aren’t accentuated by the dryness of your skin. Use and toning and firming hand moisturizer like StriVectin Hand Cream ($37).

Fresh feet: Time will eventually lead to dry, callused feet. Smooth the bottom of your feet with a foot file at the end of your bath and then follow up with a smoothing foot cream like the DDF Pedi-Cream ($29.99). Finally, add an extra touch of youthful fun by selecting a bright nail polish for your toes like the CHI Ceramic Nail Lacquer Meet me in the Copy Room ($5.49).

Perfect your legs: Get rid of aging varicose and spider veins quickly and easily with the help of a sunless tanning product like TanTowel Half Body Classic towelettes ($5.99).

Eat well: Stay away from extreme diets. Drink lots of water and consistently eat healthy for fresher, more vibrant skin.

Resolve Pregnancy’s Lingering Beauty Effects

/ Author:

CC by Emery Co Photo

Ahhh, the joys of pregnancy. It’s a beautiful time – which comes with some not-so-beautiful side effects. Pregnancy causes the body to go through major changes including weight gain, changes in breasts and the occurrence of stretch marks. Unfortunately, there are many changes that women don’t know to expect because they are not talked about. Many of these pregnancy side effects tend to reverse on their own after your hormones stabilize a few months following delivery. If they don’t disappear naturally, there are solutions to correct them.

Itchy skin
Dry, itchy skin is common during pregnancy due to the elevated estrogen levels and stretched skin. Areas most prone to dry, itchy skin during pregnancy include the stomach, legs, breasts, palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. Along with itching, some pregnant women will also experience red, pimple-like bumps known as pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP).
Solution: First, try not to scratch. Avoid hot baths; though they may feel good at the moment, they dry your skin even further. Moisturize with ointments or creams (StiVectin-SD Intensive Stretch Mark Cream or MD Skincare Hydra-Pure Firming Body Cream) as much as possible. Ointments and creams moisturize more effectively than lotions. If you still can’t find relief, ask your doctor about a topical anti-itch cream.

Hair loss
While you’re pregnant, your hair may get thicker and grow quickly because the increase in hormones prevents hair from shedding. Your hair normally resumes its normal growth pattern once your hormones balance out, which normally takes about three to six months. At this point, the hair that didn’t shed during pregnancy will probably fall out, making it seem as if you are losing large quantities of hair.
Solution: Try not to wear your hair in tight braids or ponytails, which will cause breakage. Make your diet rich in fruits, vegetables and protein, which are essential for healthy hair. You can also use hair growth-stimulating products, such as CHI Power Hair Loss kits or Nioxin hair products, to speed up the process.

StriVectin-SD: Reduce Wrinkles without Botox

/ Author:

Botox is a well-known procedure in Hollywood. However, as commonly used as it may get, there are still people who hesitate to use it or straight out refuse it. There are several wrinkle creams on the market that provide people with a non-injectable alternative. The problem with those is that many do not do what they claim to do; on top of that, there are so many out there, it’s hard to know which to choose.
A special anti-aging product called StriVectin-SD originally hit the market as a stretch-mark cream and was sold in maternity shops and high-end specialty stores. Unexpectedly, StriVectin-SD started to create buzz as an anti-wrinkle cream when women everywhere started using the product on their face and noticing the disappearance of fine lines, crows’ feet, wrinkles and laugh lines. After becoming the number 1 selling skin cream in the world, StriVectin-SD is now known as an anti-wrinkle medication for both men and women. Another advantage granted by StriVectin-SD is that it has a longer shelf life than other anti-aging products. You can see noticeable improvements in lines and wrinkles around the eyes within a week.
Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi is the celebrity spokesperson for StriVectin-SD.  Celebrity fans of the product include Kylie Minogue (above) and Jennifer Lopez.
