Clear Out Blackheads!

CC by jingdianmeinv1

A lot of people get blackheads. I dare to say that MOST people get blackheads. They appear almost anywhere on your body including your face, your back and your chest. The longer that blackheads remain in your skin, the more they expand your pores and eventually, after enough time being expanded, your pores remain enlarged. Get rid of blackheads before they make themselves a comfortable home – and no, I don’t mean by squeezing them, as tempting as that may be. The main difference between blackheads and other pimples is that black heads are open and pimples are covered with a layer of skin. Because blackheads are open, they are oxidized, which is what gives them their dark color. The following steps make up the process that will clear and prevent blackheads.

1: Cleanse
A cleanser with salicylic acid will help treat and prevent blackheads while acting like an antibacterial and an anti-inflammatory. I recommend DDF Acne Blemish Foaming Cleanser, $29.49.

2: Tone
An alcohol-free toner is best for clearing blackheads. I recommend Kinerase Hydrating Antioxidant Mist, $25.49.

3: Serum
Find a serum that contains Nyacinamide (vitamin B3) and Papain (papaya enzyme). Nyacinamide decreases oiliness while Papain exfoliates and helps clear pores of dead skin cells.

4: Moisturize
An oil-free moisturizer with Hyaluronic acid will deeply hydrate the skin. If the moisturizer has SPF, even better! I recommend Peter Thomas Roth Max All Day Moisture Defense Cream SPF 30, $33.59.

5: Scrub
Scrub your skin twice a week with a gentle, grainy scrub. Manual exfoliation is extremely important in the fight against blackheads. I recommend DDF Acne Scrub, $33.99.

6: Wear a Mask
Apply a mask containing Kaolin twice a week unclogs and closes pores and absorbs oils. I recommend Peter Thomas Roth Sulfur Cooling Masque, $31.99.
