  • Twist the section around your finger and pin into a small bun. Pin and hold your  hair in place with bobby pins.

  • Shown are five small buns but you can adjust this to suit your hair thickness and length.

Quick Beauty Tip – Homemade Treatments for Damaged Hair

treatments-for-damaged-hairI’m obviously obsessed with beauty products and I’m not ashamed to say it – but I am also a fitness buff and fully understand and recognize the power of the natural ingredients we all have access to. So many of the delicious & nutritious things we include in our diet can also be used to make us more beautiful too! Here are a few of my favorite hair masks using all natural ingredients you can get at any grocery store!

1. Banana & Avocado: YES we are obsessed with avocados! Mash a ripe avocado and ripe banana and mix well. Apply an even layer to clean, dry hair and let sit for at least 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and condition as usual. Your locks will be moist & shiny when you’re done! Plus, this mixture smells delicious!

2. Honey & Olive Oil: Sounds like the beginning of a salad dressing recipe – but this combo does wonders for your tresses! Combine equal parts of the two and apply from roots to tips. Secure hair in a shower cap and let it sit for 45 minutes. Shampoo lightly and condition normally afterwards. Your hair will be silky & shiny when you’re done!

3. Thyme Treatment: If you suffer from dandruff, try this – boil 8 sprigs of fresh thyme in 2 cups of water. Once rapidly boiling remove from heat and let cool. Strain and massage the leaves into your scalp. Rinse and repeat with leftover mixture in a couple days. This is a natural way to fight flakes!

Quick Beauty Tip – Make Your Nose Appear Thinner

quicktip-contour-nose

Want a narrower, more defined nose? Forget surgery and learn how to master the art of contouring!

  1. Using a small angled brush apply the contouring color starting from the beginning of the brow. Drag it downward to the side of the nose and all the way to the tip.
  2. Blend with a fluffy brush until there are no harsh edges.
  3. Apply the highlighting color down the bridge of your nose to make it really pop and blend out.

Tutorial Tuesday – At Home Lip Scrub

TT-Lip-scrub

No one likes to pucker up with lips that are dryer than the Sahara! Surprise, surprise, you need to exfoliate your lips too! Dead skin builds up on your lips causing a dry and flaky smoocher, especially in the constantly & rapidly changing climates we endure. Lips don’t have oil producing glands which are the cause of this dryness, as well as the reason that they require their own scrub to be up to the perfect kissing potential.

Follow these simple steps to create your own at home (and tasty) lip scrub. You will need: a spoonful of sugar, oil, and honey – equal parts. Combine them and apply to lips in a smooth, even layer. Use a spoolie brush (shown here) to scrub off the dead skin gently. Repeat if necessary.

Quick Beauty Tip – Long Lashes!

quicktip-curl-your-lashes

Using a lash curler helps to open up your eyes and create more visible lashes. Everyone would like to have lashes that can make a statement. Well there’s a way to do that.

Before you curl, heat up your lash curler with your blow dryer or stick it under warm water for a few seconds. Test the temperature on your wrist so you don’t burn yourself! Similar to heating your curling iron to curl your hair; a heated tool will create a curl much more effectively that an unheated tool. So, a warm curler will give the effect of longer-lasting, noticeably curlier lashes. This trick works on false lashes, too!

Tutorial Tuesday – Use Lipstick as blush!

The only thing more fun than buying a new cosmetic is buying a new cosmetic that can be used in more than one way! Use your favorite shade of lipstick as blush by applying a small amount to your pointer finger. Rub it together with your thumb to warm it up then apply it in circular motions to your cheeks. Be careful not to apply too much. A small dab will give you the perfect hue!

Quick Beauty Tip – Solve Clumpy Eyeliner

quicktip-eyeliner

Well we all hate clumpy eyeliner. But did you know how easily avoidable it is?

Freeze it for 15 in before application and voila!

Before sharpening your eyeliner pencil, place it in the freezer for a few minutes. This will give you a nice point and prevent breakge.

Quick Beauty Tip – Make Tweezing Less Painful!

quicktip-tweezeWe understand the famous words “beauty takes pain,” but it doesn’t always have to!

Soften your skin before tweezing your eyebrows with some warm water on a cotton swab. This will allow the pores to open up and your eyebrow hairs will slide right out with a light pull of a tweezer. Remember to always pull in the direction the hair is growing to avoid ingrown hairs!
