Use Make Up Primer to Combat Fizz: We’re pretty sure you never heard this one before, but it really works! Primer contains silicone, an ingredient commonly used in hair products to create a smooth surface. The Glo∙Minerals Face Primer ($16.99) could be a great option to fight against humidity to keep your hair looking fresh and fab.style-your-hairDid you know that masks are not only for the face: Because hair that touches your shoulders or beyond can be several years old, which means we definitely need to take real care of it. We suggest using moisture-based masks and oils weekly. The Agadir Argan Oil Moisture Masque ($0.59) contains Keratin Protein and provides a sulfate-free anti color fade treatment for long lasting hair color. This moisturizing product provides deep repair to smooth, strengthen, protect for hair that shines. Meet your new best friend, dry shampoo: Is like magic on a small bottle. Trust us, one of the best ways to extend the blowout without letting your hair turn greasy is to apply dry shampoo to the roots, around the ears, and at the nape of the neck. Then massage it in, brush it down, or blast it with a blow-dryer. Your hair is perfect again. We recommend The Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo ($14.99) since it is perfect for those days where hair is greasy, it also adds instant volume and protects hair against damaging sun rays.

Get the Look: How to Achieve Sexy Tousled Hair

Do you ever stop in your tracks when you see a woman with an absolutely glorious mane? I know I do—especially when that hair is casually tousled to perfection. It’s that look that’s so undone and so unfussy that somehow it just seems like the style to have. Do you have what it takes to pull off that chic, beachy hair? Of course! Here’s how to make that tousled look yours, with a few products from TheBeautyPlace.com.

Start with clean, dry hair. Second-day hair can be easier to style, but if you’re doing that be sure to apply some TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo ($8.99). Just massage it into your roots to soak up excess oil and buildup.

Now it’s time to get started on your glamorous beach style. Apply a spray specifically formulated to give your hair that telltale texture, such as Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray ($14.95). It contains sea salt, which lends your hair that lively look. Simply spritz it on all over and scrunch gently with your fingers. If your hair needs a little extra boost, apply it to your roots and lift your hair slightly to increase volume. (Bonus: You can use this directly on wet hair, too; just spray on and let it air dry!)

Next, bring those waves to life with TIGI Foxy Curls Contour Crème ($11.99). This highly effective emollient does several things at once: it reduces frizz, smoothes wayward strands, resists humidity, and holds your waves in place.

To create beach waves with this product, rub a nickel-sized amount in between your hands. Separate your hair into sections, roping them off piece by piece into tight coils simply by twisting with your hands. While these coils press against your head, use your coated hand to scrunch them firmly. Then release.

And that’s it—no need to finish with hair spray or other styling products, or you risk losing that lovely texture and playful wave that makes this look such a summertime standout. You can find all of the products you need, plus more summer beach finds, at TheBeautyPlace.com.

Quick Beauty Tip – Halloween Hair Crimps!

quicktip-crimpsThinking about an 80’s costume for Halloween this year? Or maybe you’re going to dress up as Daenerys Targaryen from The Game Of Thrones. Whichever way you go, full, gorgeous, crimped hair is an absolute must!

If you got rid of your crimper in the early 90’s with the rest of us you aren’t doomed! You can get the same crimped effect by sleeping overnight with your hair sectioned into small braids. In the morning, flat iron over the braids once or twice to let the creases set in. Then take the braids out and spray with a light hairspray.

Your result will be perfect Halloween hair!

Get Her Look – Julianne Hough’s Top Knot

We see this look everywhere. When attending an elegant affair, but it is warm out or your dress calls for your hair to be pulled up from your shoulders and back from your face, try the top knot. We’ve seen this on celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Julianne Hough, Kelly Osbourne & more. Julliane Hough pairs this look with pinned back bangs. You can choose this option if you have bangs. If not, add body and texture to hair by adding in a braid.

Start off with a french braid right in the middle of your head only going halfway to the crown & secure with a rubber band.

Then flip your whole head forward and grab it to make a high ponytail.

Then flip your whole head forward and grab it to make a high ponytail. It should be where you stopped the braid.

Hold the base of the ponytail and wrap the rest of your hair around as if you are going to make a bun. Doesn’t have to be perfect but make it symmetrical.

There you have it! A very nice Top Knot with a twist!

Quick Beauty Tip – Prevent A Sun Damaged Scalp

quicktip-avoid-sunburn-scalp Floppy Hats & Beachy Ponytails are stylish and adorable looks for the beach, but they actually serve a very important purpose in addition to their cute look. Wear a slick back ponytail to eliminate the risk of getting a sun burn on your part, or opt for a floppy hat or even baseball cap to cover your scalp all together. There are even some hair care brands that offer scalp protectant spray with SPF, but these are quick, easy fixes!

Tutorial Tuesday – Sea Salt Spray Recipe

celebrity-beach-wavesIf you’re envious of the gorgeous beach waves that walk the red carpet, join the club! Almost all beachy wave hair tutorials tell you do use a sea-salt spray. Here is our favorite recipe for one that is super simple and gives you a Hollywood look! You will need: a clean spray bottle, 1 cup of water, 1 tsp of sea salt, 1 tsp of hair gel (you can steal your boyfriend’s for extra hold), and 4 drops of essential oil. The last ingredient is optional, but will add scent to your mixture.

Mix the above ingredients in your spray bottle and spritz onto damp hair. Scrunch up each piece you spray. Pair this look with a nice Sunless Tanner and you’ll look like you spent the day on the beach!

Tutorial Tuesday – Lighten Your Hair With Lemon Juice!

Tutorial Tuesday Lemon Juice Highlighter! If keeping up with the Summer Beauty Trends has been breaking the bank, save on highlighting your hair this month by using the age old lemon juice technique! This may not give you the most predictable, and professional look, but if you have wavy or curly hair it can provide gorgeous and natural looking streaks! Here’s what you do:

  1. Squeeze a few lemons into a bowl, strain seeds out. The amount of lemons to use depends on the length and amount of hair you want to highlight.
  2. Pour lemon juice into a clean spray bottle.
  3. Section out the pieces you want to highlight and start spritzing!
  4. Once you have the desired amount of juice on your hair, step outside and soak up some UV rays for 30 minutes.

Caution: be extremely careful not to get any citrus on your hands or face. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying juice or you run the risk of getting phytophotodermatitis! And we can’t leave out the part where we remind you to apply sunscreen too!

After 30 minutes, head back inside and wash your hair normally. Be sure to use a deep conditioner to add the moisture back in that the sun and lemon juice has stripped. Enjoy your  new look!

Quick Beauty Tip – Use Colored Liner

If you’re rocking the super hot, Summer bang look, you may be suffering from “disappearing eyelid syndrome”.

Depending on the weather, or how long it has been since your last cut, your bangs have the tendency to cover your done up eyelids, and you miss out on the chance to brighten them up.

In order to pull off that POP use a colored liner on your top and bottom lid, like Kourtney’s royal blue eyeliner look shown here.

Tutorial Tuesday – Mr. Polished from TIGI B for Men

We’ve already given you the necessary tools to get Catherine’s look in the Great Gatsby, and now we’re here to give you what you need to be Catherine’s perfect match, Mr. Polished. We like to consider Leonardo Dicaprio pretty darn polished. Here’s how to pull off his perfection:

1. Clean Up Daily Shampoo 2. Clean Up Peppermint Conditioner 3. Power Play Firm Finish Gel
