Fall Preview: The Beauty Loot You Need for the Season

It’s that time of year again. Though we hate to think about it, soon those 90+ temperatures will be a distant memory and flip flops will be replaced by UGGS. To that we say…well, ugh. The best way to deal with this seasonal transition is by investing in some new beauty loot. After all, fall means darker hues, more dramatic looks, and different trends to embrace. Here’s what we’re loving for the upcoming season, all courtesy of the editors at TheBeautyPlace.com.

The 1980s Are Back

You thought you left big hair and blue eye shadow wayyyy in the past, didn’t you? Fashion has other ideas, though, as the fall 2016 runway models proved as they rocked everything from turquoise blue eyeliner to fuchsia lips. Make the look your own with TIGICandy Fixation Lipgloss in Glaze Haze ($10.99). It’s a juicy purple hue that’s right in line with autumn’s affiliation with all things aubergine.

Smoky Eyes for Days

Fall is the best time of year to rock a smoky eye. Whether it’s for a party or even for the office, the Jane Iredale In the Blink of a Smoky Eye Kit ($40) gives you plenty of options and shades to create the ultimate glamorous eye. Hang on to it for winter, too—you’ll love how well it pairs with a brilliant ruby lip during the holiday season.

Crazy Outrageous Lashes

Some of 2016’s most memorable looks take their inspiration from past decades. Case in point: the highly amplified eyelashes seen on Nina Ricci’s runway. The look is intense, and even with a low-key lip you’ll pull off that vampy, dramatic style with ease. Try bareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara in Petite Intense Black ($16.49); for best results, use an eyelash curler to give your lashes some shape, then follow with two coats of mascara.

Shine On in Metallics

Metallic hues never lose their luster, but fall is the perfect time to unapologetically up your glam factor. Dust Jane Iredale 24-Karat Gold Dust in Silver 24K (10.99) onto your eyelids, cheekbones, or even décolleté for a dose of sexy shimmer. If you want to wear this during the day, use a light hand to add some sparkle to your eyelids; at night, apply it wet for maximum color payoff.

Snow White

Edgy runway models sported eyebrows dusted in snow white pencil—but that’s clearly not everyday appropriate for most of us. Still, you can rock a little white in your everyday look by lining your underyes with Jane Iredale Eye Highlighter Pencil in White/Pink ($11.99). This will instantly open up your eyes, brighten up your whole look, and give you a wide-awake appearance—even if you’re running on empty.

Tutorial Tuesday – Lighten Your Hair With Lemon Juice!

Tutorial Tuesday Lemon Juice Highlighter! If keeping up with the Summer Beauty Trends has been breaking the bank, save on highlighting your hair this month by using the age old lemon juice technique! This may not give you the most predictable, and professional look, but if you have wavy or curly hair it can provide gorgeous and natural looking streaks! Here’s what you do:

  1. Squeeze a few lemons into a bowl, strain seeds out. The amount of lemons to use depends on the length and amount of hair you want to highlight.
  2. Pour lemon juice into a clean spray bottle.
  3. Section out the pieces you want to highlight and start spritzing!
  4. Once you have the desired amount of juice on your hair, step outside and soak up some UV rays for 30 minutes.

Caution: be extremely careful not to get any citrus on your hands or face. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying juice or you run the risk of getting phytophotodermatitis! And we can’t leave out the part where we remind you to apply sunscreen too!

After 30 minutes, head back inside and wash your hair normally. Be sure to use a deep conditioner to add the moisture back in that the sun and lemon juice has stripped. Enjoy your  new look!
