Tutorial Tuesday – Use a Curling Wand

The use of curling wands can be tricky. Depending where you hold it, vertical or horizontal position or how tightly you wrap your hair around the barrel and so on can change the look and feel of your curls at the end. To end this battle with yourself, follow our tutorial to get easy curls perfect for any occasion!

You will need:

  1. Before you begin curling, make sure your hair is clean and dry.
  2. Prepare your hair by gently detangling it with a paddle brush or wide tooth comb.
  3. Horizontally part your hair starting at the temple and clip it out of place.
  4. Start with a vertical section of hair around an inch thick (the smaller the section the more curls you’ll have).
  5. Start wrapping your hair at the base of the barrel, and keeping a firm grip on your hair, wrap the entire section around the barrel without overlapping.
  6. Hold the tip of the section tightly around the barrel for a few seconds and release. The longer you keep your hair on the barrel the more defined your curls will be.

P.S. When you’re done with your whole head, don’t forget to run your fingers through your hair! This will give your curls a more natural look.

Spritz a shine mist to leave your hair smooth frizz-free.

Stay beautiful!

Tutorial Tuesday – Contouring 101

Contouring is a beautiful thing. Contouring & highlighting can make a face with hyperpigmentation, blemishes, and an uneven canvas appear picture-perfect. Below is a highlighting & contouring map.

Starting with a clean canvas, apply your regular foundation as a base. Next, bronze the spots in the first image below. These include your temples, the outer edges of your nose, and beneath your cheekbones down to your jaw line. In order to find the right spot, suck your cheeks into the perfect duck face and start at the indentation. Next, use a highlighter to swipe down the center of your nose, apply in a triangle underneath each eye, and in a triangle between the eyebrows on the forehead. See the picture below for exact placement. The third image shows the combined highlighted & contoured face. Finish with a clean, fluffy blender brush with bronzer to blend it all in. You will be amazed at the transformation!

Tutorial Tuesday – At Home Face Scrub

TT-at-home-facescrub This may not look too appetizing, but hey, it isn’t meant to be eaten! Pour Splenda into a bowl – we don’t recommend eating Splenda, but it is softer than sugar and will be more gentle for your face’s tender skin. Use a strawberry to apply the sweetener to your face and scrub in a circular motion. Rinse and then apply yogurt in a thin layer like a mask to clean skin. Let it sit for 20 minutes. It will harden during this time. Rinse again with warm water and you will be perfectly exfoliated!

Tutorial Tuesday – Sea Salt Spray Recipe

celebrity-beach-wavesIf you’re envious of the gorgeous beach waves that walk the red carpet, join the club! Almost all beachy wave hair tutorials tell you do use a sea-salt spray. Here is our favorite recipe for one that is super simple and gives you a Hollywood look! You will need: a clean spray bottle, 1 cup of water, 1 tsp of sea salt, 1 tsp of hair gel (you can steal your boyfriend’s for extra hold), and 4 drops of essential oil. The last ingredient is optional, but will add scent to your mixture.

Mix the above ingredients in your spray bottle and spritz onto damp hair. Scrunch up each piece you spray. Pair this look with a nice Sunless Tanner and you’ll look like you spent the day on the beach!

Quick Beauty Tip – Make Your Nose Appear Thinner

Want a narrower, more defined nose? Forget surgery and learn how to master the art of contouring!

  1. Using a small angled brush apply the contouring color starting from the beginning of the brow. Drag it downward to the side of the nose and all the way to the tip.
  2. Blend with a fluffy brush until there are no harsh edges.
  3. Apply the highlighting color down the bridge of your nose to make it really pop and blend out.

Tutorial Tuesday – At Home Lip Scrub

TT-Lip-scrub

No one likes to pucker up with lips that are dryer than the Sahara! Surprise, surprise, you need to exfoliate your lips too! Dead skin builds up on your lips causing a dry and flaky smoocher, especially in the constantly & rapidly changing climates we endure. Lips don’t have oil producing glands which are the cause of this dryness, as well as the reason that they require their own scrub to be up to the perfect kissing potential.

Follow these simple steps to create your own at home (and tasty) lip scrub. You will need: a spoonful of sugar, oil, and honey – equal parts. Combine them and apply to lips in a smooth, even layer. Use a spoolie brush (shown here) to scrub off the dead skin gently. Repeat if necessary.

Tutorial Tuesday – Use Lipstick as blush!

The only thing more fun than buying a new cosmetic is buying a new cosmetic that can be used in more than one way! Use your favorite shade of lipstick as blush by applying a small amount to your pointer finger. Rub it together with your thumb to warm it up then apply it in circular motions to your cheeks. Be careful not to apply too much. A small dab will give you the perfect hue!
