The use of curling wands can be tricky. Depending where you hold it, vertical or horizontal position or how tightly you wrap your hair around the barrel and so on can change the look and feel of your curls at the end. To end this battle with yourself, follow our tutorial to get easy curls perfect for any occasion!
I’m obviously obsessed with beauty products and I’m not ashamed to say it – but I am also a fitness buff and fully understand and recognize the power of the natural ingredients we all have access to. So many of the delicious & nutritious things we include in our diet can also be used to make us more beautiful too! Here are a few of my favorite hair masks using all natural ingredients you can get at any grocery store!
1. Banana & Avocado: YES we are obsessed with avocados! Mash a ripe avocado and ripe banana and mix well. Apply an even layer to clean, dry hair and let sit for at least 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and condition as usual. Your locks will be moist & shiny when you’re done! Plus, this mixture smells delicious!
2. Honey & Olive Oil: Sounds like the beginning of a salad dressing recipe – but this combo does wonders for your tresses! Combine equal parts of the two and apply from roots to tips. Secure hair in a shower cap and let it sit for 45 minutes. Shampoo lightly and condition normally afterwards. Your hair will be silky & shiny when you’re done!
3. Thyme Treatment: If you suffer from dandruff, try this – boil 8 sprigs of fresh thyme in 2 cups of water. Once rapidly boiling remove from heat and let cool. Strain and massage the leaves into your scalp. Rinse and repeat with leftover mixture in a couple days. This is a natural way to fight flakes!
No one likes to pucker up with lips that are dryer than the Sahara! Surprise, surprise, you need to exfoliate your lips too! Dead skin builds up on your lips causing a dry and flaky smoocher, especially in the constantly & rapidly changing climates we endure. Lips don’t have oil producing glands which are the cause of this dryness, as well as the reason that they require their own scrub to be up to the perfect kissing potential.
Follow these simple steps to create your own at home (and tasty) lip scrub. You will need: a spoonful of sugar, oil, and honey – equal parts. Combine them and apply to lips in a smooth, even layer. Use a spoolie brush (shown here) to scrub off the dead skin gently. Repeat if necessary.
Using a lash curler helps to open up your eyes and create more visible lashes. Everyone would like to have lashes that can make a statement. Well there’s a way to do that.
Before you curl, heat up your lash curler with your blow dryer or stick it under warm water for a few seconds. Test the temperature on your wrist so you don’t burn yourself! Similar to heating your curling iron to curl your hair; a heated tool will create a curl much more effectively that an unheated tool. So, a warm curler will give the effect of longer-lasting, noticeably curlier lashes. This trick works on false lashes, too!
The only thing more fun than buying a new cosmetic is buying a new cosmetic that can be used in more than one way! Use your favorite shade of lipstick as blush by applying a small amount to your pointer finger. Rub it together with your thumb to warm it up then apply it in circular motions to your cheeks. Be careful not to apply too much. A small dab will give you the perfect hue!
According to Time Magazine we are in the me…me…me generation also referred to as the millennials. This means were all about us with our facebook, twitter, and instagram accounts and of course all of those social networks wouldn’t be possible without the renowned selfies. Having just conquered the art of the selfie, I thought it was my duty to share my secrets. Your pictures are now circulating the web for everyone to see so we think it’s our duty to give you the tools to put your best face forward.
To take the perfect picture the first step is no foundation. Of course everyone’s impulse is to cake it on but according to celeb artist, Pati Dubroff, it actually accentuates lines, pores and dry patches. Instead, try using a matte primer, it prevents shine and minimizes pores. Then add a touch of concealer on any other visible spots you find on your face.
Now we want your eyes to pop! Bright eyes are a must for the selfie! Because selfies create bad lighting and grainy videos it ends up casting a shadow under your eye. Use an eye-brightening concealer or pen. Add a touch of it underneath your eye and blend it.
Moving to the picture perfect lip, go 3-D. Red lipsticks read too flat and the camera craves dimension. Instead, pick moisture pink or berry lip balm. This will give you more dimension and keep your lips from blending in with the rest of your face.
Next skip the eye shadow! Eyeshadows weigh down your eyelids. Instead use a liner it will emphasize the eyes without adding weight. Choose a dark grey or brown (black may be too harsh) and trace the liner along the top lids only!
How can we forget, your cheeks? For the selfie dewy cheeks create a nice glow so leave out the dull powders and apply a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks.
Now that you’re selfie superstar, your photo shoot is almost ready to start! One of the most important aspects of this picture is the angle. Avoid doubling your chin. A universally flattering angle is slightly above your face and having your face turned at an angle. Another tip is to pay attention to the lighting. Professional photographers suggest using indirect light as opposed to shining light directly on a subject. You can achieve this effect by shinning your light onto a wall or using a large white poster board to bounce the sunlight onto you. Probably the most important factor in conquering the perfect selfie is just RELAX. Taking a picture of yourself is supposed to be fun, not stressful. Plus you have the ability to take as many photos as you want and can delete the ones that aren’t post worthy! Now you’re ready to be the selfie superstar we talked about earlier! Be a photographer for the day and showcase the art of yourself and your own work!
