The Best Concealers for Every Need

To conceal or not to conceal: That is the question. In nearly every case, most of us opt to conceal some sort of complexion imperfection. Dark circles under the eyes, ruddiness around the nose, and acne scars stand no chance against a powerful concealer that covers any type of skin concern. At TheBeautyPlace.com, we have a concealer for every need. Here are the best of the best.

For Oily Skin

If your skin is of the slick and shiny variety, you already know how challenging it can be to use any sort of makeup on your face. One of the best is Glo Minerals Camouflage Oil-Free Concealer ($22.99), a hyper-pigmented product in a reliable cream formula. Best applied with a brush, it stays put while reducing the appearance of unwanted marks and hyperpigmentation. It’s also enriched with nourishing vitamins and green tea extract.

For On the Go

Who has time to stand around meticulously applying concealer in the middle of a hectic day? Not you, we suspect, which is why we suggest the Jane Iredale Zap & Hide Blemish Concealer ($19.59) to resolve any of your pesky skin woes. This double-ended concealer is a double threat: It both hides the imperfections you wish to keep under wraps and treats them! It works its magic with a combination of tea tree leaf and lavender oils, both potent anti-blemish ingredients that are gentle and effective.

For Brightening

Dark under eye circles need a boost! The goal is to both cover and reflect light—a job for the marvelously talented Jane Iredale Active Light Undereye Concealer ($18.99). Available in six shades, it doesn’t just cover those stubborn circles. It also highlights the area to brighten and reduce the visible appearance of your most difficult complexion issue. Choose your shade based on your unique need: some neutralize redness, while others eliminate brown discoloration.

For Complete Coverage

Sometimes it’s easier to just apply moisturizer, smack on some concealer, and head out the door. We all have those days when applying a full face is just too much trouble. Yet what if you really need serious coverage? That’s when you turn to bareMinerals bareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer ($18.99). It feels lightweight to the touch—almost like your favorite lotion—but quickly transforms into a high-potency makeup product that works overtime to hide just what you want it to, whether it’s spotty acne marks on the chin or a sallow complexion.

Step 1: First, start by creating a thick, winged line on your upper lid with black eyeliner, we recommend bareMinerals Lasting Line Longwearing Eyeliner ($14.99) that it provides a maximum color intensity without smudging. Plus, with this product, the smoky eye looks can be created easily! Make sure you extend the wing, so it almost reaches the tail end of your brows. Line the lower lash line as well.screen-shot-2016-12-07-at-5-33-38-pm Step 2: Dip a fluffy blending brush in your black shadow and buff out the cat eye Our TIGI Cosmetics Brush – Blending Brush ($10.99) is just perfect for the job! Buff out the shadow until it extends just past the crease of your eye.

Step 3: Now, apply some orange shade along the crease and make it slightly overlap with your black-Smokey lid. The Tigi Cosmetics HD Eyeshadow Palette ($48.99) has the perfect orange tone for it! Make sure you blend out the color slightly. For this, our TIGI Cosmetics Brush – Dome Shadow ($10.99) will be a great option! Apply the same orange shade to the lower lash line, so it overlaps with the black and blend the colors.

Step 4: Don’t forget to finish the look with mascara. We recommend the Jane Iredale Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara (23.99) it helps the lashes look thicker and longer naturally.

Did anyone else get a vampy feel from Selena Gomez at the AMA’s?

We did!

She looked amazing on the red carpet with a sunset, smoky eye to complement her red dress.

Her copper, red infused eye makeup paired with hazel contacts drew us in and left us in awe.

Step 1 Prime eyelids. Using a brightening primer like this one will help add dimension to the eye.

Step 2 Light cream color eye shadow set the crease and brow bone area. We like Jane Iredale’s Oyster.

Step 3 Blend into your crease a copper eye shadow. Jane Iredale’s Triple Eyeshadow – Triple Cognac has shades that can be used. Be sure to focus on the outer area and winging it outward.

Step 4 Blend the edges with a clean brush.

Step 5 Use a red shadow to build definition on top of the copper hue. We like the darker shade in TIGI Cosmetics – Flawless.

Step 6 On the lid, layer another red shade. You can play with the types of reds you would like to use. In Selena’s look, there are many red-wine colors used. Youngblood in Bordeaux can be used.

Step 7 Make sure all the shadows are blended. Use the same shadow as in Step 6 to line the lower lash line. Line the inside of the lower lash line with a burgundy eyeliner or black if preferred.

Step 8 Use a volumizing mascara and voila!
