The Easiest Ways to Include SPF Into Your Routine

July and August are the hottest months of the year, which means that sun exposure is pretty much unavoidable. With the heat cranked up, it’s important to keep your skin covered from UV rays, even if you only step outside for a few minutes. SPF is essential in helping to prevent premature wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and of course, skin cancer. However, you don’t have to use a sunscreen to be covered! Here are a few skincare and beauty products that are formulated with SPF so you can enjoy your summer days without worrying about sun damage.

Sunscreen

The problem with most sunscreens is that they feel way too greasy or heavy on the skin, but Skinceuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50  remedies that issue with its ultra-lightweight formulation. This chemical-filter free sunscreen protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays while leaving your skin with a matte finish. Perfect for all skin types, including sensitive and post-procedure skin.

Lip Balm

Don’t forget your lips need protection from the sun, too! The skin on our lips is extremely thin, which makes them even more prone to sun damage. Using a SPF lip balm like Jane Iredale’s LipDrink SPF 15 Lip Balm  seals moisture in your lips and shields them from the elements. Either wear it on top of a lip color or by itself in one of the four sheer colors it comes in.

Primer

If you’re not too keen on wearing sunscreen, consider opting for Skinceuticals Physical Matte UV Defense SPF 50  instead. This two-in-one product acts like a sunscreen but is actually great to use as a primer beneath makeup. Reduce the appearance of pores and absorb oil by smoothing a light layer over the skin. It will leave you with a matte finish that doesn’t slip even when it feels like a sauna outside.

Foundation

Knock out sun protection and makeup application in one swipe with Glo Minerals LUXE Liquid Foundation SPF 15 . Infused with ultra-fine minerals and light-diffusing diamond powder, this foundation gives the skin a radiant finish that deeply nourishes at the same time. If you’re a fan of a dewy glow, then this sheer-to-medium coverage foundation will be your new summer staple.

Concealer

Create more of a barrier from the sun with a concealer that offers SPF like BareMinerals Correcting Concealer Broad Spectrum SPF 20. We love how creamy it is and how it doesn’t crease up. It’s so good, in fact, that it was awarded the “Best Concealer for Blemishes” by Allure a few years back. Apply it onto any imperfections to conceal them. Over time, the appearance of dark spots and discolorations wll actually reduce over time, thanks to the lemon peel extract.

Powder

Finish off your makeup with Jane Iredale’s Powder-Me SPF 30 Dry Sunscreen. Dermatologists recommend reapplying sunscreen every two hours so this lets you do it without disrupting your makeup. Not only does it keep your skin protected, but also it helps provide sheer coverage and calm down inflammation (even if you’re already sunburned!).

How to Get the Kardashian Glow for the Summer

Aside from their signature lashes, you’ll always find them sporting a highlight that looks like they’ve been bathed in a halo of light. First things first, you’ll need to prep the skin with an ultra-hydrating moisturizer. Peter Thomas Roth’s Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream ($35.99) helps lock in moisture since it’s formulated with 30 percent hyaluronic acid, which keeps skin supple and plump for 72 hours. You can choose to wear a primer on top or skip it completely like Kim does.

When it comes to foundation, use one that gives a radiant finish like Glo Skin Beauty’s Luminous Liquid Foundation ($47.99). This lightweight mineral foundation is infused with both diamond powder and green tea extract to make it look like you’re glowing from within. Apply some of the foundation on your neck as well so there’s no harsh line. Dab the product into the skin with a KKW-approved BeautyBlender ($15.99) sponge that’s been dampened for the most flawless streak-free finish.

Complete the base by applying Jane Iredale’s Active Light Under Eye Concealer ($24.99) under your eyes, on the bridge of your nose and the cupid’s bow to brighten up your face. The concealer also works as a highlighter so it creates a soft-focused effect that will amp up the glow.

Lightly dust Karin Herzog’s Egyptian Earth Finishing Powder ($35.99) over the t-zone to set the base. The powder evens and illuminates the skin, providing it with a long-lasting radiant finish. Now time to bake in true Kardashian fashion with BareMinerals Barepro Contour Face Shaping Trio ($30.99). Apply the lightest color in the areas you want to be highlighted—so under the eyes and on the middle of the nose, chin, and forehead. Let it sit on your face for a few minutes, then dust it off. Use the medium color to bronze the skin and the darkest color to contour.

Once you’re done, bring some color back into your face with
Jane Iredale’s In Touch Cream Blush ($17.99). Use your fingers to apply the product onto your cheek and then blend it in with the BeautyBlender. The creamy formula blends effortlessly into your skin—not to mention it also smells like chocolate.

Then glide BareMinerals Highlighter Stick ($18.99) on the highest part of your cheekbones. This oil-free highlighter is infused with Mineral Moonbeam Essence that mimics how light reflects off crystals, which gives your cheeks an ethereal, multidimensional look. Feel free to also dab some on your cupid’s bow and tip of the nose if you love the shine. To make your eyes look bigger and brighter, apply Jane Iredale’s Eye Highlighter Pencil ($11.99) along the inner corner, waterline, and brow bone. And voilà, you’re ready to keep up with the Kardashians all summer long.

How to Get a No-Makeup Makeup Look For Summer

Less is definitely more when it comes to creating a no-makeup makeup look. That being said, you’ll still need certain products to achieve it. We’ve found the best seven beauty products that will get you a fresh face for summer that will endure even in the hottest of climates. Versatile and affordable, all of these products will become essentials in your beauty bag.

Concealer

Skip the foundation, and opt for a full coverage concealer instead. Dermablend’s Quick-Fix Concealer ($18.89) will give you all the coverage of a foundation without making it feel like you have a mask on. Use the stick concealer to cover everything from under-eye circles to blemishes to scars. Since it comes in a variety of yellow and pink tones, you’ll be able to pick your perfect match. With its smudge-proof SPF 30 formulation, this stick concealer will be your go-to during the summer.

Powder

If you can’t live without foundation, no worries! You can still use it—in powder form that is. Jane Iredale’s Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder ($34.89) offers sheer to medium coverage so you can either apply it as a setting powder for the concealer or build it up for that extra bit of coverage. The water-resistant SPF 20 product diffuses the appearance of fine lines and pores all while concealing redness. Great for those with sensitive skin types, including those with eczema, acne, and rosacea.

Eyeshadow

For the eyes and brows, all that’s needed is a good eyeshadow palette like Jane Iredale’s Eyeshadow Kit ($38.99) in Daytime. The kit provides five neutral colors that work well for all skin colors. For a subtle, but noticeable highlight, apply the lightest color in the inner corners of the eyes, brow bone, and cheek bone. Apply the medium shade in your socket and underneath the tip of your nose for dimension. Apply the remaining medium to dark colors to your brows.

Mascara

To make your eyes really pop, use YoungBlood’s Mink Lengthening Mascara ($19.99). This long-wearing mascara doesn’t flake or smudge so rest assured it will stay put in the blazing heat. For the best results, apply the mascara close to the base of the lashes, then wiggle upward for maximum volume and length. Make sure to separate each lash for the most natural look.

Blush & Bronzer

Get that flushed look with TIGI Cosmetics’ Glow Blush ($12.99). The highly pigmented product appears dark, but it goes on sheer so you can easily and seamlessly blend it into the skin for a rosy glow. Same goes for BareMinerals’ Invisible Powder Bronzer ($26.99)—the baked bronzer gives a naturally radiant finish that is both buildable and multidimensional.

Tinted Lip Balm

Finish it off with lips that look naturally stained with BareMinerals’ Pop of Passion Lip Oil-Balm ($13.99). Ingredients like vitamin E and passion fruit seed oil deeply hydrate the lips while leaving behind a beautiful color stain that lasts. Initially applied the product is sheer, but you can layer it to achieve a full coverage glossy pout.

Quick Beauty Tip – Fake Freckles To Look Younger

quicktip-frecklesEveryone associates a freckly face with innocent youngster. Faux frecks are achieved by applying normal foundation over the bridge and nose and on the tops of the cheeks. Then, draw large, light, and closely packed freckles with eyeshadow. You can place additional dots on your T-zone with a pencil brush and shadow powder. Of course, to make the freckles look as natural as possible, you should aim for a scattered effect. We can’t take all the credit for this though, we originally saw the idea on one of my favs: bit.ly/10EocVl
